WordPress can be intimidating sometimes, especially if you aren’t code-fluent. These Saturday development talks will take your site to the next level – from form builders to CSS tricks to web compliance. Here’s a taste of things to come.

“#Facts: A Form Builder Can Do That”

By Naomi C. Bush

Naomi’s been working with WordPress as a professional developer since 2005. You can currently find her over at gravityplus.pro, where she specializes in quickly delivering custom business applications at a fraction of the cost.

She contributes back to the WordPress project through the core code, codex documentation, free plugins, organizing the WordPress Gwinnett meetup, organizing WordCamp Atlanta, and speaking at WordCamps.

Just about everyone has a form builder, but it can do a lot more than just contact forms. In her presentation, Naomi will show you how powerful a simple form builder can be. Attendees will learn how to augment their native form plugin to tackle a variety of tasks – with no “specialized plugin,” freelance developer, or custom code required.

“The Power of CSS: Cool Things To Do With Styles”

By David Wolfpaw

David is a professional web developer who focuses on WordPress theme and plugin development. At work, he helps support small businesses and educates WP users through his service, FixUpFox. He also helps organize WordPress Orlando and WordCamp Orlando.

JavaScript can be daunting to beginners. Rather than busy yourself with an all-new coding language, you can add interactivity and flair to your site with CSS and HTML. During his talk, David will show participants how to improve their sites with simple coding language. Attendees will learn new CSS techniques they can apply right away.

“Web Accessibility made easy for WordPress”

By Joe LoPreste

oe LoPreste is the co-owner of a WordPress development company based out of St. Pete, Florida. He has over twelve years’ industry experience and is passionate about WordPress accessibility – so much so, he has begun teaching web compliance to WordPress developers and agencies across the US. He stubbornly believes that he can make a difference.

Web accessibility is a huge issue, and WordPress is the internet’s largest platform. As WP developers, Joe believes it is our job to ensure all users can view and enjoy our content.  We can make a huge impact, and it doesn’t take much added effort. (Compliance is also the law in most areas – and will be commonplace everywhere soon.)

During his talk, Joe will explain the WCAG 2.1 guidelines are and why they are so important. He will also highlight five easy, actionable steps that you can take immediately. Further, Joe will provide links to a free software you can use to test your websites’ compliance.
